A distinctive vintage art glass bowl handmade by La Verrerie de Biot in Biot, France.

The bowl is formed from thick pale amber or honey-coloured glass containing Biot’s characteristic profusion of suspended bubbles. Its sculptural design features four sweeping raised sections separated by deep curves, producing an organic flower-like silhouette.

This artistic freeform design does not appear in La Verrerie de Biot’s current catalogue and should not be confused with its simpler contemporary finger bowl. The piece is etched “BIOT”, confirming its origin.

A substantial and highly tactile example of French studio glass, suitable for display as a decorative art bowl, catchall or trinket dish.

Condition Note

Good vintage condition overall, with light surface wear consistent with age.

Some bubbles reach or break through the surface, particularly around the rim and interior. These are natural characteristics of Biot’s traditional handmade bubble-glass technique and may feel like small indentations or slightly rough points. No cracks are visible.

Please study the detailed photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. See photos.
