When I started work in an accountants office I was required to wear detachable collars and cuffs.  one removed the cuffs when at the desk but always wore them with 2" showing in any area where a client might see one.  We also had to have spares in the office in case they got dirty or creased.  My grandfather gave me these to keep mine in.  I got mother to remove the collars from 5 shirts and would have to wash and iron any used collar or cuffs every evening.  Eventually I found that FW Woolworths sold paper collars and I switched to these.  I would have been sacked I am sure if anyone had noticed.
