A handsome early 20th century German mantel clock by H.A.C. (Hamburg American Clock Company), made in Württemberg.

The clock has a substantial dark wooden Napoleon-style case with decorative beaded moulding, raised feet and a brass-toned dial with distinctive black Arabic numerals and blued hands.

Fitted with a traditional mechanical two-train movement, pendulum and coiled gong. The original maker's plaque to the rear reads:

H.A.C.

Made in Württemberg

The movement is also numbered/stamped 164/36 130.

The clock is currently ticking and the striking mechanism is working, producing a deep bong on the gong. It has not been tested for long-term timekeeping accuracy, so accurate timekeeping cannot be guaranteed. It is therefore sold as a vintage mechanical clock that may benefit from servicing/adjustment by its new owner.

Interestingly, the clock retains an old repair ticket from Kenneth Walker & Son, Watchmaker & Jeweller, 117 Nethergate, Dundee, dated 4 August 1973, referring to repair/cleaning work. This will be included with the clock.

Approximately 36 cm wide, with the dial approximately 20 cm diameter. Please refer to the photographs for the other measurements.

Good antique condition overall with age-related marks, scratches, rubbing and wear to the wooden case and dial, all consistent with its age. There is some wear/marking to the rear case. Please study all photographs carefully as these form an important part of the condition description.
