A fascinating vintage 1974 Laos textile/needlework picture, featuring an intricate geometric design made up of 25 colourful individual motifs arranged in a five-by-five grid. The artwork is particularly attractive for its rich combination of blue, pink, red, green, yellow, orange and white stitching, with each individual panel incorporating its own detailed symmetrical pattern. The reverse has a handwritten label reading “from Vientiane Laos 1974”, making this an interesting piece with a specific provenance/date recorded on the original backing. Presented in a simple black wooden frame with a muted green/olive-coloured mount, giving the colourful textile a striking appearance. A lovely item for collectors of Asian textiles, Southeast Asian folk art, vintage needlework or unusual travel souvenirs. Measurements Overall: approximately 36cm x 30cm Framed and ready to display. Condition Vintage condition commensurate with age. The frame has some scuffs, marks and signs of age, and there are minor imperfections to the backing. The textile itself appears generally well preserved, with some minor signs of age/wear. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description. Important note The attribution to Vientiane, Laos and the date 1974 is based on the handwritten label attached to the reverse. I have not independently authenticated the provenance.
