A beautifully detailed and increasingly collectable Country Artists “Sweet Dreams” (CA 821) from the beloved Realm of the Otter series 🌿
This charming piece captures two otters curled together in peaceful rest upon a rocky, moss-covered ledge. The textured backdrop bears the Country Artists Realm of the Otter branding, giving it that unmistakable mid-1990s wildlife studio presence collectors adore.
The sculpting is wonderfully expressive — fine fur texture, soft facial detailing, and subtle colour blending bring the pair to life. It is signed K. S. and bears the 1995 copyright, confirming its production era.
Country Artists was founded in 1974 in Stratford-upon-Avon and became one of Britain’s most respected producers of hand-painted wildlife resin sculptures. Their pieces are known for emotional storytelling, realistic anatomy, and carefully studied animal behaviour.
The “Realm of the Otter” collection was one of their most charming wildlife ranges, celebrating the playful and tender nature of river otters.
This example is signed by sculptor Kevin Sherwin, who contributed several naturalistic wildlife designs for Country Artists. As with most studio sculptors, the original clay prototype was hand-signed before casting — that signature is preserved in every production piece.
Country Artists ceased production in the 2010s, which has steadily increased interest in earlier studio models such as this.
