▪ No color-breaking creases, stains, or major wear.
▪ Centering and alignment are near perfect.
High Grade (9.0 – 9.6)
9.6 Near Mint+
▪ 1–2 very small flaws: light spine ticks (may or may not break color), tiny corner wear.

▪ Multiple minor flaws: several small spine ticks, light cover wear.

▪ Significant aging; a deep tan or yellow. Often from poor storage.
Tan
▪ Deep discoloration, paper is aging quickly. Usually brittle or near-brittle.
Brown
▪ Paper has become very dark, fragile, and dry. Lower value.
Brittle
▪ Paper flakes easily, crumbles when touched. Rare and usually found in low-grade Golden Age books stored poorly.
