1996 Japanese Pokémon Card Game Base Set – Growlithe (ガーディ) No.058

This is the original Japanese Growlithe (ガーディ), No.058, released in the first Pokémon Card Game expansion in 1996.

This copy is the early No Rarity Symbol / Markless version, identified by the absence of the rarity symbol normally found in the lower-right area of later printings.

Illustrated by Ken Sugimori, the card features the classic artwork from the earliest era of the Pokémon Card Game.

For collectors of original Japanese Pokémon cards, this is a beautiful example of Growlithe from the very beginning of the Pokémon TCG era.

Condition: MP (Moderately Played)

The condition has been evaluated conservatively based on eBay’s official trading card condition guidelines.

The card shows moderate signs of age and handling on both sides, including surface wear, scratches/hairlines, edge and corner wear, and whitening.

There is also a subtle pressure/crease-like mark on the front surface that is difficult to see when viewed straight on. Please refer to the “Points to Check” close-up image, where this area is shown more clearly.

Despite the visible wear, the card retains good overall presentation for a vintage copy, with strong color and no major crease, tear, or severe structural damage observed.

Please carefully review all photos and close-ups for the exact condition.

The card shown in the photos is the exact card you will receive.

A solid vintage Growlithe with honest age-related wear and the notable condition point clearly disclosed — a good collector copy within the MP range.

Collector’s Note

The No Rarity Symbol version represents one of the earliest Japanese printings of the Pokémon Card Game, making it especially appealing to collectors of original 1996 Japanese cards.

Despite being approximately three decades old, this copy retains strong overall eye appeal and attractive surface gloss, particularly on the front.
