About the Issue

Daredevil #248 marks the first appearance of Bushwacker, a cybernetically enhanced assassin who would become a recurring enemy of Daredevil and the Punisher.

Created by writer Ann Nocenti and artist Rick Leonardi, Bushwacker is introduced while hunting mutants, drawing Wolverine into the story and eventually placing him on a collision course with Daredevil.

The issue comes from the early portion of Ann Nocenti’s influential run on Daredevil and features artwork by Rick Leonardi and Al Williamson.

Issue Overview

“A Cage in Search of a Bird...” finds Matt Murdock attempting to rebuild part of his life after stepping away from his legal career.

Karen Page encourages Matt to establish a free legal hotline to help people who cannot otherwise afford representation.

At the same time, Daredevil investigates a company whose toxic waste has blinded a young boy, while Foggy Nelson finds himself working for a major corporation controlled by the Kingpin.

Elsewhere, Wolverine is tracking Bushwacker, a dangerous killer targeting mutants.

The separate threads begin to converge as Daredevil becomes involved in Bushwacker’s violent campaign.

About Bushwacker

Bushwacker makes his first comic-book appearance in Daredevil #248.

Originally introduced as a Daredevil antagonist, the character later became particularly associated with both Daredevil and the Punisher.

His unusual abilities allow his cybernetically altered body to transform portions of his arms and hands into weapons, making him a distinctive addition to Daredevil’s rogues gallery.

Seller Notes

All graded comics (“slabs”) are the exact items shown in photos.

I am not a professional grader. All raw comics are sold as-is and are described to the best of my ability. Please review photos carefully, as they are of the exact items you will receive. Any visible defects, including spine ticks, corner wear, or foil imperfections, are shown in photos. I make no guarantees of grading outcomes.

Slabbed books (CGC/CBCS) may have minor scuffs, scratches, or display Newton Rings, a rainbow-like effect caused by the case. These are cosmetic only and do not affect the comic’s grade or condition.

If cosmetic case imperfections are a concern, buyers may submit the books to CGC for a reholder service. Please note that reholdering is handled entirely by CGC, and any outcome, such as changes to label designation, grader notes, or grade, is determined solely by CGC’s internal review process.
