This is a half of an Agate nodule found in South Ayrshire some time in the last year. It was in the tub for polishing after cutting it open on the saw. I don't know where the other half is. The other half's don't always make it through the sawing process.
This Scottish Agate was placed in the rock tumbler where only the part we sliced managed to take a polish. It was in there for about a month going through different grits and soaps and stuff.
The outer shell looks like calcite. The patterns inside are chalcedony, quartz, and calcite. It has a wee window of quartz and a couple of recognisable (if a little crazy) zig zag banding.
