This handmade ukulele is crafted by Hideo Urabe and his son Nahiro at their workshop in Kyoto. It is a "Big Tenor" size ukulele, famously used by renowned player Ryo Nawatayama. The body features stunning curly maple with a beautiful grain pattern, complemented by a Paulownia neck, rosewood bridge, white binding, and an abalone rosette. The instrument is uniquely dyed with Kyoto-style Yuzen dyeing techniques, resulting in a vibrant blue finish.
Designed with a large, resonant body, this ukulele produces a rich, airy sound with excellent volume and tone. The neck has a slightly thinner, comfortable shape, making it easy to grip, and features a zero fret for effortless playability in the lower positions. The 14-fret joint enhances performance, and the longer 442mm scale length provides superior brightness, volume, and stability compared to standard tenor sizes. Whether strumming or playing single notes, this ukulele responds with clarity and responsiveness.
The exquisite Yuzen dyeing adds a striking visual appeal, making this instrument not only a superb musical tool but also a beautiful work of art.
