Description

A beautiful collection of six antique English peacock-blue wine glasses, dating to the late Georgian or Regency period, circa 1820–1830.

Each glass features a rounded funnel-shaped bowl raised on an elaborate hand-worked stem with annulated collars and an inverted baluster-style knop. The glasses stand on conical feet with individually finished polished pontil marks underneath.

Five glasses have a closely matching deep peacock-blue colour. The sixth glass has the same shape and stem design but is a lighter, slightly greener shade. This subtle colour difference is clearly shown in the photographs.

Small trapped air bubbles, slight variations and other irregularities can be seen within the glass. These are natural characteristics of traditional handmade production rather than later damage.

An attractive and increasingly difficult-to-find collection of approximately 200-year-old English drinking glasses.

Condition

Very good antique condition with surface wear and minor marks consistent with age and previous use.

Small bubbles and natural handmade irregularities are present within the glass. One glass is noticeably lighter and slightly greener than the other five. No obvious chips or cracks have been noted.
