Beautiful vintage pair of hand-carved horn wading bird figures, depicting long-legged heron/crane-type birds in a feeding pose.
The birds have been individually carved with lovely elongated forms, slender legs and detailed feet, and are mounted on substantial curved rectangular horn bases. The natural variation in the horn gives each piece a warm brown colour with attractive tonal variation and grain.
The pair are similar but not completely identical, adding to their handmade character.
Good vintage condition overall, with the expected signs of age and previous use. There are surface scratches, small marks and areas of wear to the horn, particularly to the bases. There is also natural variation, colour change and some fine surface lines within the horn.
Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description. Both birds remain firmly attached to their bases. Bodies, by design, are removable from legs and base.
