Antique cobalt blue blown-glass Christmas ornament with its original metal cap stamped “MADE IN CHOSEN.”

“Chosen” was the name used for Korea during the period of Japanese colonial rule from 1910 to 1945, placing this ornament within an unusual pre-WWII historical context. It should properly be described as made in Korea during that period rather than made in Japan.

The ornament measures approximately 2 inches in diameter and has a rich cobalt blue finish with aged interior silvering. The original stamped cap is especially interesting for collectors of early Christmas ornaments, Asian export wares and prewar holiday decorations.

Very good antique condition. No cracks found. There is expected age-related wear, spotting and oxidation to the interior silvering along with light surface wear and oxidation to the metal cap.

A particularly interesting piece for collectors of antique Christmas ornaments, early blown glass, prewar holiday decor or Korean/Japanese colonial-era export history.
