He played Third base when he first came up, but after a couple years, they played Edgar exclusively at Designated Hitter. And he was a great one and became the first designated hitter elected to the hall of fame. He’s one of the best hitters I’ve ever seen. He took batting practice as a drill, at times with a weighted donut on his bat. I’ve never heard of anyone else doing this.
