This Listing is for ONE NEW Single 41¢ Stamp: Jury Duty from 2007.
Mint. MNH. No flaws. From a Smoke-free and Pet-free Environment.
The U.S. Postal Service issued these 41¢ self-adhesive Jury Duty stamps on September 12, 2007 (Jury Appreciation Day) in New York, NY. Graphic artist Lance Hidy of Merrimac, MA created this design showing a diverse group of 12 representative jurors in silhouette.
This stamp calls attention to the importance of jury service, a cornerstone of democracy in the United States. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (passed in 1791) guarantees every defendant the right to a trial by a jury of their peers. Jury duty is compulsory, and is a method for average citizens to ensure that justice is rendered and liberty preserved.
