Sir Arthur Sullivan (1842 – 1900), composer, best known for his partnership with the librettist, Sir William Gilbert, in the Gilbert and Sullivan light operas. In July 1878, Arthur Sullivan served as the British Commissioner for Music at the Paris International Exhibition, where he was subsequently decorated with the Légion d'honneur.
