Lieutenant Theodore E. True (1842–1925) was a U.S. Army officer in the 4th U.S. Infantry best known for his historical journal documenting relief efforts for grasshopper victims in Nebraska. -- You can see online journal kept by Lieutenant T. E. True, 4th U.S. Infantry, while he was on duty with the Dept. of the Platte distributing clothing to citizens of Nebraska who had been made destitute by the grasshopper plague of 1874. The officer traveled from Fort Fetterman, Wyoming Territory, to Omaha and then to the Plum Creek, Overton, Cozad, Willow Island, and Wood River settlements. He worked with relief committee members from Frontier, Furnas, Gosper and Dawson counties while he supervised enrollment and distribution of federal aid. --
