Vintage Israeli studio pottery square dish or bowl by noted ceramic artist Avraham Gofer.

A wonderful Mid-Century Modern design featuring a highly stylised geometric bird in raised relief, decorated in striking turquoise, cobalt blue and blue-grey glazes against an earthy brown ground.

The shallow square dish has softly rounded corners and a glazed grey-blue exterior. The underside is hand-inscribed with the artist's signature and Israel.

Avraham Gofer, together with Pnina Gofer, operated the Gofer ceramics workshop in Israel and are known for distinctive modernist ceramics incorporating carved and relief decoration with colourful glazes.

A particularly appealing example of vintage Israeli studio pottery with a wonderfully graphic, abstract design.
