This is Langholm "The Muckle Toun" Tartan Scarf. The scarf was made in the Scottish Borders. The Yarn was dyed in Langholm, Scarfs woven in Langholm and then professionally finished in Galashiels.

This tartan was designed in 2020 during Covid. We felt Langholm was missing a tartan. Using colours that has a historical meaning to Langholm. We started with the Armstrong Tartan Design and changed the colours see below for description.

The Green and Purple represent the Surrounding Hills and Glorious Purple Heather, The Red (Crimson) and Navy are the colours of Langholm Rugby Club the oldest club in the scottish borders founded in 1871. The Red Navy plus White and Gold are all present in the Burgh Standard ( Common Riding Flag ) which can be seen on the last friday in July carried on Horseback by the elected cornet.Finally the Grey represents Langholm's rich history in the textile industry which dates back to the late 1700s.

The scarfs are approximately 1.8 metres long (not including the tassles) The width is a nice wide 35cm wider than a lot of Tartan Scarfs you get.

This is a really nice quality scarf. It is a 100% soft Merino lambswool. The Scarfs weigh approximately 200g each. Cleaning instructions - Dry Clean Only.
