A superb original period Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars concept-art portfolio print from 1977, professionally presented in a modern white display frame.
The dramatic artwork depicts an early concept for Luke Skywalker fighting Darth Vader aboard the Rebel Blockade Runner, created during the development of the original Star Wars.
This is particularly fascinating because the artwork captures an early interpretation of both characters before their final screen appearances were established. Luke is shown wearing breathing equipment, while Darth Vader appears in the imposing black armour, cape and breathing apparatus that would become one of cinema's most recognisable character designs.
The original explanatory text printed beneath the artwork remains present and describes the proposed scene, as well as the development of Vader's appearance. It explains that Vader's costume incorporated a breath mask, life-support systems, computer readout, black cape and armour, and notes the influence of the Samurai warrior on his design.
