A striking pair of vintage Italian bookends featuring finely modelled busts of William Shakespeare.

Each bookend is designed as an open book, decorated with raised musical notation and supporting a detailed Shakespeare bust. Finished in a warm ivory-coloured faux alabaster or marble-effect resin, they have a handsome classical library or study appearance.

The bust plinths are marked “Shakespeare”. One bookend retains its original Made in Italy label and an old Debenhams price label showing £40.

Good vintage condition with age-related discolouration, light surface marks and minor rubbing around the edges and bases. Some darker shading remains within the detailed moulding. No major cracks or substantial chips noticed. Please examine all photographs closely.
