This is a Japanese stone sculpture depicting a frog, traditionally used as a garden or interior ornament. It is carved from a relatively lightweight, highly porous stone.

The sculpture features a stylized crouching frog with simple, deeply incised lines defining its wide mouth, folded legs, and toes. The natural, heavily pitted texture of the stone gives the piece a rustic and earthy appearance, characteristic of traditional Japanese folk aesthetics.
