Striking vintage Taxco, Mexico 980 silver screw-back earrings, signed RDA, featuring a sculptural modernist abstract bird/wing motif with bold spirals and deeply incised oxidized details.
Each earring is marked SILVER 980 / RDA / TAXCO. The 980 mark indicates silver of approximately 98% purity, higher than the 92.5% silver standard used for sterling.
Each earring is formed in a mirrored design, with sweeping curved lines and a central spiral creating a wonderful mid-century Mexican modernist look. The recessed areas retain a dark patina that gives the dimensional silverwork excellent contrast.
The earrings have traditional screw-back closures for non-pierced ears and measure approximately 1".
Marked on the reverse with a small Mexican silver hallmark/maker's mark; please see the detailed close-up photograph. The exact maker has not been conclusively identified, so no specific silversmith attribution is being made.
