The porous structure provides a large surface area where beneficial nitrifying bacteria can grow and establish. Water can flow through the filter material while the dense structure helps retain residue and organic particles, supporting an effective aquarium filtration process.
The biochemical filter cotton can be cut to your required size and shape, making it suitable for different aquarium filters and DIY filtration applications.
The filter sponge can be cleaned and reused. For optimum filtration performance and bacterial growth, it is recommended to replace the biochemical sponge approximately every 3 months, depending on aquarium conditions and usage.
The biochemical filter cotton is vacuum packed and compressed during packaging and shipping. When received, it may appear smaller, deformed or thinner than expected.
Simply remove it from the packaging and place it flat for approximately 1–2 days. It should gradually return towards its original shape and thickness. Vacuum compression does not affect the filtration performance of the material.
As the filter cotton may be manually cut, please allow a possible 0–2 cm size variation. Please consider this before purchasing.
