Description A superb antique 19th Century Russian solid silver & niello cigarette case by the silversmith Anatoly Apollonovich Artsybashev (1888 - 1898) in excellent condition and with Russian silver hallmarks and dating from 1894. Lovely quality, with a sprung push button lid catch and a fully gilt-lined interior and is all-over decorated with beautiful niello work. Measures approx 3.65 inches (91mm) x 2.25 inches (58mm) and is 0.85 inches (21mm) deep. Weighs a heavy approx 101 grams and has a nice historic engraved monogram with year date in the cartouche. 

Date Antique Russian solid silver, stamped with a Moscow assay office stamp and an "84" Russian silver hallmark and has the year date 1894 with the silversmiths initials "A.A" (Anatoly Apollonovich Artsybashev - 1888 - 1898). Clear marks on both sides of the case and 100% guaranteed antique silver.

Condition Excellent condition with no splits or repairs and no nasty knocks or dents, a lovely genuine antique example and the niello decoration has very little signs or wear/loss. Nice and heavy and beautiful quality, the sprung lid catch still works perfectly and the lid opens and closes securely and the original gilding is still virtually all intact. A fine Russian silver cigarette case.
