​This is a beautiful vintage wooden jewelry trinket box handcrafted in Nariño, Colombia using the world-renowned Barniz de Pasto (Pasto Varnish) technique. This highly specialized, historic indigenous art form involves processing and dyeing natural Mopa Mopa tree resin, which is then meticulously stretched and applied by hand to the wood to create intricate, durable gloss patterns.
​The box features gorgeous caramel and dark brown floral, geometric, and vine motifs across the top and sides. The interior is lined with a vibrant, clean red felt insert, making it perfect for storing rings, necklaces, or small keepsakes.
​This specific piece features its original vintage retail sticker on the base from Oxfam, showing it was imported as a certified fair-trade artisan piece from South America.
