Vintage 1973 Notre Dame National Champions commemorative football featuring more than 10 faded handwritten signatures.
The football is factory printed with:
1973 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
SUGAR BOWL
ND 24 - ALA 23
Notre Dame defeated Alabama 24-23 in the Sugar Bowl to complete an undefeated 11-0 season and capture the 1973 National Championship under legendary head coach Ara Parseghian.
The clearest and most significant visible autograph appears to be Ara Parseghian.
There are at least 10 additional handwritten signatures visible around the football. Many have faded considerably with age and some are difficult to decipher or overlap other writing.
The 1973 Notre Dame National Championship team included notable players such as:
• Tom Clements
• Dave Casper
• Eric Penick
• Wayne Bullock
• Ross Browner
• Mike Townsend
• Greg Collins
• Frank Pomarico
• Pete Demmerle
• Mike Fanning
• Luther Bradley
• Art Best
Because many of the signatures are quite faded, I am not representing every autograph as positively identified. Buyers should review the detailed photographs and make their own determination regarding individual signatures.
The autographs have NOT been professionally authenticated by PSA/DNA, JSA or Beckett.
CONDITION:
Vintage condition with expected age and handling wear. Most importantly, many of the signatures have faded substantially over time, while several remain more visible than others.
The football itself displays well and retains its original 1973 Notre Dame National Champions / Sugar Bowl graphics.
INCLUDED DISPLAY:
The football will be shipped with the clear acrylic display holder shown in the photographs.
Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition of the football, printing, leather, laces and individual autographs.
A particularly attractive piece of Notre Dame history tied directly to the undefeated 1973 National Championship season and legendary coach Ara Parseghian.
