Here we have a striking Arts & Crafts Sterling Silver Photo Frame with an 8.5ins by 6.25ins visible picture size. The frame displays a photo in landscape style. It has a planished silver front and a plain wooden back, both typical of the Arts & Crafts period.

The photo frame was made in Birmingham by celebrated silversmith William H Haseler and dates to 1917. The firm was founded by William Hair Haseler in around 1849 in Birmingham. They will be forever known for their association with Liberty & Co of London for whom they produced the Cymric range of silverware and the Tudric range of pewterware during the first quarter of the 20th century at which time Liberty & Co were co-owners of the business. This frame was very probably sold through Liberty & Co's London store.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents in the silver, just the superficial surface wear that has to be anticipated after over 105 years of good service. The back fits well and the strut and hinge are in full working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The frame is 28.8cm / 11.3ins wide, 17.9cm / 7ins high and 17.3cm / 6.8ins deep with the strut fully extended. It weighs 493g / 17.4oz.

The hallmarks, down one side of the frame, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter s for 1917 and the W.H.H makers' mark for William Hair Haseler.
