Topdog Presents: Always exciting stuff!
Offered here is a beautifully detailed 1:43 scale replica of the 1934 Chrysler Airflow four-door sedan, produced by Brooklin Models of England under model number BRK.7. This is a genuine hand-built white metal model, cast and assembled in England, finished in a deep navy blue with whitewall tires, chrome-toned wire wheel hubs, and a fabric-textured black fender skirt insert over the driver's-side rear wheel arch. The model captures the Airflow's signature streamlined silhouette in fine detail: the vertical waterfall grille, sculpted "pontoon" fenders, triple-blade chrome bumpers front and rear, correctly proportioned rear-hinged rear doors, and a simulated fabric insert roof panel. Small yellow license plates front and rear are stamped "BRK-7," a playful signature touch Brooklin used across its range. The base is clearly marked "Brooklin Models, Made in England" along with "1934 Chrysler Airflow Four Door Sedan," confirming authenticity.
The real Chrysler Airflow is one of the most historically significant American cars of the 1930s. Introduced for the 1934 model year, it was the first full-size American production car built around principles of streamlining and aerodynamics, developed with early wind-tunnel testing at a time when most cars were still styled as boxy, upright carriages. Engineered under designer Oliver Clark and featuring a rigid unibody-style "bridge truss" construction, unheard of in mainstream American cars of the era, the Airflow was, in many ways, a car ahead of its time. Unfortunately, its radical, rounded appearance proved a hard sell to a conservative buying public still accustomed to traditional coachwork, and early production problems only compounded the damage to its reputation. Despite genuine engineering achievement, the Airflow was ultimately judged a commercial failure, and Chrysler discontinued it after 1937, retreating to more conventional styling for a generation. Today, surviving examples are prized by collectors precisely because of that ambition, and the Airflow is widely regarded as a landmark, if commercially unlucky, milestone in American automotive design.
Brooklin's BRK.7 rendition of the Airflow was part of the marque's long-running catalog of finely detailed 1:43 American classics, in production from 1977 through its deletion in February 1995, with the same casting used across both the company's earlier Canadian and later English production runs. Later English-made examples like this one, finished in dark blue with whitewall tires, are generally understood to represent the higher trim Chrysler CV Airflow Imperial variant, distinguishing them from the earlier cream, blackwall-tired castings modeled on the standard CU Airflow sedan.
Condition: this example is mint and has never been played with, but it does not include the original box. The paint, chrome detailing, glazing, and all trim pieces are clean and complete with no chips, scratches, or losses noted. A close review of all photos is encouraged, and I'm happy to answer any condition questions before you buy.
