A fine example from the London silver shop of John Schofield.


Grimwade writes that his silver displays impeccable craftsmanship and brilliant Neo-classical design, and compares

favorably with the far better know Paul Storr.


First listed with brother Robert 1772. 


Then alone and working for the royal goldsmiths Parker and Wakelin.

As well as a substantial number of direct commissions from prince Regent, 

who later became King George IV.


Schofield's work ranges from 3200 GBP for pair 8 inch salvers to $45000 USD

for a large argyle at Koopman Rare Arts.

This important 1786 Schofield gravy is 6 3/4 inches handle to spout and 4 1/4 inches tall

weighs 9 1/2 standard ounces.



In very, very fine condition.

Appears little used in 250 years.

Free of dents, scratches, repairs of any kind.
