An Exceptionally fine pair of English crystal and Sterling Silver repoussé perfume bottles made by the master craftsman of the Victorian era.

The pair of perfume bottles have heavy silver jackets on four sides featuring elaborate Renaissance Revival and Rococo motifs, prominently displaying chased cherubs, intricate floral scrolls, foliage, and geometric trellis work. Each side includes an unengraved, smooth silver shield or cartouche for personalized monograms. The bottles are finished with heavily embossed, matching dome-shaped hinged silver lids over the bottle necks, decorated with scrollwork around a monogrammed cartouche containing the letter “G” in script. Each lid contains English hallmarks, the date letter for 1900 and a makers mark of “W C” for William Comyns & Sons. The base of the bottles show polished pontils.

William Comyns founded the company in 1858 after buying out the established business of Robert Tagg in Soho, London, and registered his first maker's mark (the initials 'W.C' inside a four-tipped oval) in 1859. In 1885, his sons Charles and Richard joined the partnership, and the firm transitioned to William Comyns & Sons.

Comyns became widely famous for elaborate dressing table sets, vanity boxes, and silver-cased glasswork. His signature designs frequently featured highly decorative, heavy repoussé work, intricate die-stamped patterns, Rococo-influenced scrolling foliage, birds, and the iconic "Reynolds Angels" motif.

The perfume bottles measure approximately 5.5 inches tall, the bases are 4 inches square and the openings are 1.25 inches in diameter. Both show wear to the bottoms of the glass, and have had their tops slightly pushed in. One bottle has chips to its stopper and base. This and other areas of damage are shown in photos.
