Here we have a stunning Edwardian Cased Set of Six Sterling Silver and Enamel Buttons with matching Belt Buckle. The buttons are circular with a green and white target pattern over engine turning. The buckle is a quatrefoil shape with matching green and white enamel over engine turning. The box has a green fabric outer covering with a cream satin lining in the lid and a cream velvet tray to hold the items.

The set was made in Birmingham by high class silversmiths Levi & Salaman and dates to 1909. Founded by Phineas Levi and Joseph Salaman in 1870, Levi & Salaman quickly established a reputation for high quality silverware and remained in business for fifty years until they were merged into Barker Brothers in 1921, with the brand name continuing on through the twenties.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the enamel and just the most minimal superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 115 years of good service. The box is in good condition with just a couple of very minor scuff marks on the outside. The hinges and clasp are in full working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each button is 2cm / 0.79ins in diameter while the buckle measures 6.4cm / 2.5ins high and 6.4cm / 2.5ins across. Unboxed the set weighs 43.6g / 1.54oz and all boxed up it weighs 145g / 5.11oz.

The hallmarks, on the back of the buckle, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter k for 1909 and the L & S makers' mark for Levi & Salaman.
