Bandini qualified fifth and drove a superb race in atrocious wet conditions to finish third, completing a Ferrari double podium behind teammate John Surtees and Jochen Rindt.
The 1966 Belgian Grand Prix is remembered as one of the most dramatic races of the Formula 1 era. Torrential rain on the opening laps caused multiple accidents, while the fearsome 14 km Spa circuit demanded extraordinary courage and skill. Bandini's podium finish was a key result in his strongest Formula 1 season, briefly putting him at the top of the World Championship standings.
