Unusual vintage miniature ceramic character jug depicting a historical or military gentleman.

The figure is hand painted with a large black bicorne-style hat featuring red and white decoration, a yellow coat, grey hair and a characterful moulded face. A curved handle forms the back of the jug.

The identity of the character and maker are unknown. Although the figure may represent a historical military or naval personality, there are no markings to confirm an attribution, so he is being offered simply as an unidentified character jug.

Approximately 8 cm high and 7 cm wide.

Condition

Displays well but shows considerable age and use. There is widespread crazing to the glaze, rubbing and losses to the painted decoration, surface marks and small chips/nibbles around the opening/rim. The underside shows age-related wear and discolouration.

Please examine all photographs carefully as they form part of the description and show the condition in detail.

A quirky little piece of vintage character pottery with plenty of personality, ideal for a character jug, historical pottery or unusual ceramics collection.

Unmarked to the base.

Will be carefully packed for posting.
