A lovely piece of British photographic equipment, dating from around the 1950s.

Manufactured in England by W&G Electrical Products, the Panorama was designed for viewing mounted photographic transparencies individually through its large magnifying lens.

The original box states that it:

• Accepts 2" x 2" and 35mm-type slides
• Has an optically ground English lens
• Illuminates the picture electrically by finger pressure
• Uses a 2.5 volt bulb and two U.11 batteries
• Provides even illumination across the picture
• Has a recessed lens to help reduce reflections
• Was designed and made in England

The viewer opens for access to the battery/bulb compartment, as shown in the photographs.

Testing: I have not tested the illumination because I do not have the required batteries. The internal battery contacts look clean with no obvious significant corrosion. The large viewing lens also appears nice and clear.

Supplied with its original colourful W&G Panorama retail box, which is a particularly nice period display piece in its own right. The box has substantial age-related wear but remains complete enough to display well alongside the viewer.
