Over the coming months, I will be listing a number of items from my personal collection. These are all from my personal collection - once they are gone, they are gone!
A genuine vintage brass barrel bolt, believed to date from the 1930s–1950s period. This is a quality piece of traditional British door hardware, sourced from old stock originally held by a hardware store.
The bolt has a simple, practical design, with a sliding barrel mechanism and matching keep. Its compact size makes it particularly suitable for smaller doors, cupboards, cabinets and other applications where a traditional period fitting is required.
Although this fitting has never been installed or used, it has been stored away for many decades and has developed a lovely darkened patina. The brass has areas of tarnishing, discolouration and general surface marks from long-term storage. In my opinion, this aged finish adds to its vintage character and authenticity, so I have left it in its present condition rather than polishing it.
An appealing original fitting for period property renovations, traditional joinery projects or anyone looking for genuine vintage British hardware instead of a modern reproduction.
