A prize binding, King Edward VI School Birmingham, bound in contemporary half red leather and gilt. It measures approx 17.5cm x 12.6cm x 2.6cm. The spine is a little sunned, else good, and firm. The outer edges are marbled. Internally, there are marbled endpapers to the front and rear. There is a small previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. The blanks to the front and rear have some pale foxing and a couple of light grubby marks. Else, the contents are in rather good, bright crisp and clean condition throughout. Complete.

Originally written by the German mythologist, Otto Seemann. Here translated and edited by British scholar G. H. Bianchi. It is a comprehensive introduction to classical antiquities, detailing the origins, roles, and narratives of the Olympian gods, lesser deities, and legendary heroes, focusing on iconography. It was aimed to help students, artists, and art enthusiasts recognize, interpret, how these classical myths were visually represented in ancient sculpture, pottery, and classical fine art.

Classic work, in attractive prize binding.
