This is authentic Moebius Epilame/Fixodrop/8981 lubricant preparation liquid, freshly decanted into an airtight glass jar - small quantities but large enough to use for many watch movements - ideal for hobbyists, students and professional watchmakers who do not need full manufacturer bottles and is ideal for experimentation.

The package contains everything necessary for effective application.

Epilame is recommended as a pre-lubrication treatment for professional-level servicing and acts to prevent applied lubricant from migrating beyond its intended working location, this improving accuracy and time between services.

It is particularly recommended before lubrication of the balance and escapement and is recommended in service documentation by Selita, ETA and Omega (amongst others). For precise recommendations, movement-specific recommendations, you should refer to this documentation but it can generally be used to improve the accuracy of lubrication in these sensitive areas.

A guide is included in the package, outlining the appropriate ways of applying and then lubricating afterwards, which varies by component.

Note that the "proper" way that is usually shown involves a special bottle with a mesh basket. The kit I have supplied uses a less dedicated but, honestly, absolutely acceptable solution. To give you some idea how silly this can get, the official Moebius small empty dedicated jar for this, with basket,  is currently retailing for around £175! My aim is to keep cost down (and size also, for postage) but still provide n acceptable solution.

I have had to increase postage costs to keep track of increased Royal Mail prices (including the eBay cut they add to this too). UK untracked is as before but everything else has increased a little.

Orders to all destinations are dispatched via Royal Mail. Additional items postage is free within the following limits (due to postage and customs limits (can mix and match with sets in the other listing). Orders exceeding this may be cancelled and refunded.:

  • up to 12  vials 
  • up to 1 epilame jar and 6 vials
  • up to 2 epilame jars

Standard delivery is UNTRACKED, so I cannot provided a tracking number{!) If you want tracking, you'll need to choose a more expensive tracked option for postage.

International orders

  • Prices exclude any import taxes or duties.
  • These are the responsibility of the buyer if charged by the destination country.
  • Most small orders pass through without issue
  • Delivery can take up to a month and, please check with your country's customs - in some cases they seem to hang onto it for quite a while.
US Destinations

I have to add an uplift to the postage rates to add a duty and admin charge at my end which Royal Mail require me to pay up front.

EU destinations

Unfortunately it turns out I have to pay the €3 new customs duty + £1 handling fee to Royal Mail (AND the cut that eBay take!) after eBay collect sales tax.. Note, however, that this is one fee per type of product in the package, so it may still be cost effective if you order multiple oils and/or the lager sets since that will be one postage fee (including this charge). AND NOW (from 1st Nov), a €2 EU handling fee in that too - it is getting beyond ridiculous!

BUT only for some EU countries - for some it is only the handling fee and not the duty - for these countries the recipient has to pay the duty on receipt - these countries are:
  • Bulgaria
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Croatia
  • Czechia
  • Hungary
  • Poland
  • Slovenia
BUT BUT BUT - for Greece and Romania, you have to pay everything ion receipt

I find it hard to imagine a more complex process of complete nonsense.

Tracked-Only Destinations

Orders to some countries (untracked) have been reported as not getting through. For countries that seems to have this issue, I am only offering tracked (which is more expensive obviously) and since I can't disable untracked in Ebay's convoluted postage rules, I have simply made untracked a higher price. If anyone does choose untracked for delivery to one of these countries, I will send it tracked. Affected countries currently are:
  • Brazil
  • Israel
  • Moldova
  • South Africa
  • Uruguay

Please bear in mind that, if I have to do this for any country, it means that you and fellow horologists will be denied this oil at the low cost, because tracked postage is not cheap. So do all that you can to chase it down before raising a request. I am also likely to see messages rather than requests - so message me first if you have an issue.

Returns

Due to the nature of watch oils and lubricants, opened or used vials cannot be returned, as they are consumable products.
Unopened items may be returned within 30 days.

If your item arrives damaged, leaking or incorrect, I will replace it immediately.
