MY PRESS PHOTO TERMINOLOGY KEY:
TYPE 1 Photo: The original 1st generation photo. Photo was developed from the original negative within the first two years of the photo being taking. Type 1 photos are identified by press snipes, date stamping and other information usually present on the backside of the photo. Rarest and most collectible of Press photos.
VINTAGE (Type 2 photos): A photo most likely from original negative but produced more than two years and less than 5 years after original photo was taken. OR I can't determine it to be Type 1, but it is a vintage time period photo.
PERIOD PHOTO: A photo produced at the time of the press release but is of a subject more than five years older than the press release. Example: A movie is from the 1940s and is shown on TV in the 1960s. Since it was released on TV in the 1960s it makes it a 1960s period photo.
CONTEMPORARY: Any photo produced at least ten years after the time period of the subject.
Item History: Starting in August 2025 I will be sorting and selling a massive collection of TV press photos from the 1950s thru 1990s. There are some movie press photos as well. Amazing collection of over 180,000 photos. This collection will take a long time to process and list. Join the journey and start following my press photo listings. Loaded with Type 1 photos. Stay Tuned!
