Original vintage Soviet Union (USSR) ceremonial award sash, dating from the Soviet era, approximately 1960s–1980s.

Made from beautiful red silk fabric with large gold-coloured Cyrillic lettering, the official USSR state emblem featuring the hammer and sickle, and decorative golden fringes.

Original Russian inscription:

“ЛУЧШИЙ ПО ПРОФЕССИИ”

English translation: “Best in Profession” or “Best Worker in Their Profession.”

During the Soviet period, these ceremonial award sashes were presented to workers who demonstrated outstanding professional skills and achievements in their occupations.

They were commonly associated with socialist labour competitions, workplace award ceremonies and public recognition of skilled workers.
