Historical Background:
Agfa was one of Germany’s most important photographic manufacturers, with a history dating back to the 19th century.
The company became internationally recognised for its photographic films, cameras and optical equipment.
The Optima series, first introduced in 1959, was particularly important because it helped popularise automatic exposure photography.
The later Optima Sensor models featured Agfa’s distinctive Sensor shutter release, designed to provide a smooth and comfortable shutter action.
The Optima 200 Sensor represents an interesting period in German photographic engineering, combining traditional optical design with increasingly automated camera technology.
Today, these cameras are appreciated by collectors of vintage German photographic equipment.
