In the Soviet Union, stereoscopic viewers and photographic slide sets were produced for educational, cultural and tourist purposes.
Leningrad was particularly popular as a photographic subject because of its magnificent imperial architecture, historic monuments, museums and canals.
Today, these original stereo slides are collectible examples of Soviet photographic technology and historical tourism memorabilia.
