4 FILM FAVOURITES: 4 Classic Horse Adventure Movies on 2 DVD's

Black Beauty (1994) Based on the classic novel by Anna Sewell, the movie is narrated by a majestic stallion named Black Beauty. It follows his journey from an idyllic childhood in the English countryside to the harsh, working-class streets of Victorian London. Along the way, he experiences the heights of human kindness and the depths of cruelty before finally finding peace

The Story of Seabiscuit (1949) Shirley Temple A highly fictionalized biography where an Irish horse trainer, Shawn O'Hara, moves to America with his niece, Margaret. Shawn sees incredible potential in a small, overlooked yearling named Seabiscuit and trains him into a champion. Meanwhile, Margaret falls in love with a jockey named Ted, but struggles to overcome the trauma of her brother's fatal racing accident

National Velvet (1944) Elizabeth Taylor & Mickey Rooney. Twelve-year-old, horse-loving Velvet Brown lives in rural Sussex and wins a wild, gifted horse named "The Pie" in a local raffle. Convinced he has the makings of a champion, she enlists the help of a penniless, jaded former jockey named Mi Taylor to help her train the horse. Against all odds, they prepare to enter England’s legendary Grand National steeplechase.

International Velvet (1978) Tatum O’Neil In this sequel to National Velvet, a now-grown Velvet Brown takes in her orphaned, American niece, Sarah. Sarah is deeply troubled but finds solace when Velvet buys her a horse named Arizona Pie—the last foal of Velvet's historic racehorse. Sarah inherits her aunt's incredible talent and channels her focus into training for the British Olympic equestrian team.
