An essential part of the ignition system on your Diesel engine
Is your diesel hard to start in cold weather?
Replace your weak, worn out, hard starting glow plugs
Glow plugs are located similarly to spark plugs on gasoline engines, and have a similar function. Where as a spark plug transmits an electrical charge to ignite fuel in the combustion chamber, the glow plug simply works like a heater to warm the combustion chamber. On days where your engine is too cold to start by itself, electric will flow through these plugs, generating enough heat for them to glow. Without properly working glow plugs your vehicle may be a nightmare to start when cold.
Poor performance, difficulty in starting (especially when cold), and poor fuel economy are all signs of a bad glow plug. Regardless of what some people think, these don't last forever and should be replaced when fuel economy and performance starts to suffer.
If your Diesel engine has become hard to start, especially in colder weather, glow plug failure could be the cause.
The glow plugs on your Diesel engine provide heat to the combustion chamber to aid in the starting of a cold engine, and the more glow plugs that fail in your engine, the harder it will be to start.
Don't be left out in the cold, replace your failed glow plugs today, and keep your Diesel engine starting with ease and running well, no matter the temperature outside.
Nickel Plating
1. Corrosion and oxidation resistance
The nickel layer has good corrosion resistance and can effectively isolate the substrate material (usually iron or copper alloy) from direct contact with high-temperature, humid, or corrosive environments (such as exhaust gas, sulfides, etc. in the combustion chamber).
Under high temperature conditions, nickel can slow down the oxidation process and extend the service life of the heating plug.
2. Improve surface hardness and wear resistance
Nickel plating can enhance surface hardness and reduce mechanical wear caused by frequent installation, disassembly, or vibration.
At high temperatures, the nickel layer can maintain structural stability and prevent surface damage.
3. Improve conductivity and contact performance
Nickel has good conductivity, which ensures stable current flow through the heating plug, ensuring fast and uniform heating.
Nickel plating can reduce contact resistance, improve electrical connection reliability, and avoid poor conductivity caused by oxidation.
4. Enhance high temperature stability
Nickel has a high melting point and can maintain stability at the working temperature of the heating plug (usually several hundred degrees Celsius), preventing premature failure of the surface layer.
The nickel plating layer can serve as a thermal barrier, slowing down the thermal fatigue of the substrate material.
5. Promote welding and coating adhesion
Nickel plated surfaces are easier to weld (such as connecting with wires) and improve the adhesion of subsequent coatings (such as anti rust paint, insulation layer).
6. Sealing and anti-seepage hydrogen
During the electroplating process, the nickel layer can seal the tiny pores of the substrate material, prevent hydrogen gas from penetrating (especially during electrolysis), and avoid material embrittlement caused by hydrogen embrittlement.
