Condition:

Good used vintage condition for a toy dating from the 1940s. The original green finish presents well overall, with age-related wear and some more noticeable wear/paint loss around the clockwork winding point.

The clockwork mechanism is currently not working. It may potentially be a straightforward repair for a collector or someone experienced with vintage clockwork mechanisms, but this cannot be guaranteed, so it is being sold as non-working.

Importantly, the racer retains its original illustrated picture box and original winding key. The box shows expected age-related wear, including wear to the edges, corners and surfaces. Please inspect all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.

Description:

A fantastic original 1940s Chad Valley “Wee-Kin” Clockwork Track Racer, finished in its attractive original green colour and complete with both its original picture box and winding key.

Produced by Chad Valley in England, these early Wee-Kin clockwork toys have become increasingly collectible examples of classic British toy manufacturing. The streamlined racing-car styling and period green finish give this example plenty of character.

Even more importantly for the collector, this example has survived with its original illustrated Wee-Kin box and winding key, making it a far more complete display piece than the many loose examples encountered today.
