You are bidding on a very fine and rare old 4/4 violin, labeled Bernardus Calcanius Fecit Genuae Anno 1741.


The instrument remains in good ready to play condition with some old repaired cracks on the top and sides. 

The whole length of the violin is 595 mm and the back 359 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 115 mm; lower bouts: 205 mm. 

Materials: very nice two pieces narrow flamed maple back with matched sides and nice high grained spruce top. 

Good rosewood and ebony set up. 

Old Dominant strings and Bausch bridge.
