Fifteen identical unused vintage “Port-a-Punch” computer cards. These are of the size and format of IBM-format 80-column “Hollerith” computer punch cards, but have hole positions in forty (even-numbered) columns already partially cut. The holes would have been pressed out in use by hand in a frame using a stylus, allowing punched card input to be arranged without the need for electric keyboard-operated punches. The multi-hole card code is indicated on the cards. They are made and printed by IBM with black and red printing, labelled “CCA – Imperial College” (meaning Imperial College’s “Centre for Computing and Automation”), with alternate columns marked for entering statements in the Fortran language; they would have been prepared in schools in the 1970s and submitted to Imperial College London for processing by a mainframe computer. The cards are unused and in excellent condition.
