The 0-6-0 Steam Switcher
The 0-6-0 wheel arrangement was one of the most common designs used for railroad switching work.
With six coupled driving wheels and no leading or trailing wheels,
the 0-6-0 was compact, powerful at low speed and well suited to moving freight cars around yards, terminals and industrial trackage.
Locomotives of this type spent much of their working lives assembling trains,
breaking down arriving consists and moving cars between classification tracks.
