This is a faulty example of SG 13a, the Cape of Good Hope one penny "woodblock" in the rarer carmine shade. There are margins in places and a light postmark ; but a large central thin and what looks like a small repair on the left corner. It would make a useful space-filler until you can afford a fine example.
My final photo shows the difference between this shade and the common vermilion. To be clear, that other stamp is NOT included in this sale.
The Gibbons catalogue price is £4000.
My photos are part of the description. Please ask any questions before bidding.
Please see my other listings for more classic stamps. I can sometimes combine postage fees, depending on the total value of the shipment. If buying more than one item, please wait for my invoice before paying, or the eBay system will charge you postage on each item.
Postage
UK buyers - from £2.72 for 2nd class insured postage, depending on which eBay "Simple Delivery" option YOU choose when checking out.
International buyers : maximum £12 (Europe) or £15 (rest of the world) for insured & tracked airmail. I will refund any overpayment.
US buyers : the revised Trump tariffs still exclude "Informational materials" including collectors' postage stamps (commodity code 9704), so you will only pay the normal import taxes that were in place before the Trump tariffs.
Excluded locations
I do not post to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine or most Middle-East countries during the current conflicts. Ebay is also imposing some international posting restrictions due to virus or embargo regulations. Click the tab marked "Postage and Payments" for details.
Payment
Via the various options within Ebay's managed payments scheme.
Returns
I will give a full refund if there is any significant misdescription.
Duty and taxes
Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or postage cost. These charges are the buyer's legal responsibility to pay. Check with your country's Customs office to find out what these extra costs will be, before bidding. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight company, but they are not additional shipping charges. In some countries and US states, by law Ebay must collect these taxes at the point of sale, so they will appear as an extra Sales Tax or VAT fee on your Ebay or PayPal bill. That payment goes to your Government, not me.
Please note that I will not declare a false Customs value – doing so is a crime.
