Offered here is an outstanding 1979 ARCO Jesse Owens Games Los Angeles Regional Championship program signed and inscribed by legendary Olympic champion Jesse Owens. The program is especially appealing because it was produced for an athletic competition bearing Owens' own name, creating a strong connection between the autograph and the piece itself.
Owens authored one of the most celebrated performances in Olympic history at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, winning four gold medals in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4x100-meter relay and long jump. His achievements in Berlin made him an international sporting icon, while the circumstances surrounding those Games gave his victories a significance extending far beyond track and field.
The program features a striking blue-and-yellow illustrated cover for the 1979 ARCO Jesse Owens Games. Inside is a full-page image commemorating Owens' record-setting long jump at the 1936 Olympics. Across this page, Owens has written a large inscription in dark ink reading "My Best Always – Jesse Owens." The size and placement of the inscription make for an impressive display piece.
The program remains complete as presented and shows visible vintage wear, including edge and corner wear, surface creasing, handling marks and small tears/punctures near the upper edge. There is additional writing/signature material visible toward the upper left of the signed page. Please review the photographs carefully for the exact condition. The signed Jesse Owens program pictured is the exact item the winning bidder will receive.
